Vigna radiata. Mung beans offer an easy, quick and reliable way to look at the germination process. Investigations include observing whether bean roots always grow downwards, what conditions are required for germination/seedlings and observing sprouting mung bean root hair cells. Germinating beans in a glass jar/tank allows roots to be easily observed. Mung beans are most commonly used in the UK to grow 'bean sprouts'.
